It was last November when we first heard about Legendary Pictures’ supernatural action project Spectral from writer Ian Fried, and all has been quiet ever since. However, now some movement is under way as Jayson Rothwell has been brought in to rework the script.
Although the project doesn’t have any producers lined up yet, sources told Variety that Thomas Tull, Legendary’s founder and CEO, loves the concept and is very much behind getting the film up and running.
The premise of Spectral is centered on a modern-day, militaristic, and gritty approach to fighting the supernatural. It has been described as a darker and more serious take on a Ghostbusters-like story, with a plot that revolves around a special ops group formed to bring down evil ghosts that have taken over Manhattan.
With a new scribe on board, however, things are of course subject to change so look for more soon!
