The Lost Skeleton Returns in August on a Dark and Stormy Night

If you’re a fan of Larry Blamire’s The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra, then August 17th is a date you might want to mark on your calendar. On that day Shout! Factory unspools a double dose of Larry Blamire low-budget comic homages to b-movies of bygone days as both the sci-fi sequel The Lost Skeleton Returns Again and Dark and Stormy Night, Blamire’s ode to 1930’s old dark house flicks, make their way to DVD.

The whole Lost Skeleton of Cadavra crew reunite for Blamire’s follow-up that continues the tradition of lovingly spoofing the b-movies of the Fifties and Sixties.

Dr. Paul Armstrong (Larry Blamire), missing in the jungle for two years and now a bitter alcoholic because science let him down, is needed by government man Reet Pappin (Frank Dietz) to help find a powerful new rock, Jerranium 90. His loyal wife, Betty (Fay Masterson), confident he’ll probably come home when he’s ready, nevertheless doesn’t hesitate to join in the search. Also along is Peter Fleming, who, while trying to restore the family name, finds among the stuff he inherited from his brother a very familiar looking skull (the Lost Skeleton of Cadavra himself) that begins to take him over. Seems the only thing that will restore the Lost Skeleton’s body is the legendary Dalp of Annacrabb, which just happens to be made of…Jerranium 90!

Actor Daniel Roebuck (“Lost”) joins the usual Blamire players for the mystery murder in a dark manor farce Dark and Stormy Night.

“A strange and mysterious group of strange, mysterious people gathers in the old dark house of the Cavinder Estate for the reading of the will of the late Sinas Cavinder. Strangest and most mysterious of this group is the unseen psychopathic killer who is psychopathically killing the gatherees one by one.”

Both films will be released on DVD August 17th priced at $14.99 each. No word on any extras as of this time.

Still no word on when or at this point even if Trail of the Screaming Forehead, Blamire’s spoof of 1960’s sci-fi he shot prior to both of The Lost Skeleton Returns Again and Dark and Stormy Night, will ever rear its ugly forehead on DVD.
