Restored Thomas Edison's Frankenstein on the Way!

March 18th will mark one hell of an auspicious occasion. It was on that day that the horror movie was born ... and the first creature out of the gate? The Frankenstein Monster!

For those of you who don't know, inventor extraordinaire Thomas Edison was the first person to capture the tale for the screen, and if you're wondering what it was like, we have the entire film, as complete as can be, for you below.

Even better, though, according to The Hollywood Reporter BearManor Media is releasing Frederick C. Wiebel, Jr.'s new book Edison's Frankenstein along with a restored DVD of the original short from the one existing print!

Sweet! In the interim get ready to take a step back through time. Enjoy!

I have to see this sometime. I've heard good things. I've seen Der Golum as well. Not very good, but it's a pretty damn influential film.

Yeah, it's pretty sweet. I think it'd be cool if someone put all the orinal monster films together on one disc like this, Nosferatu and the first Wolf-Man movie. Not sure if there are any others.

Awesome news. Far too many silent Horror films have been lost. Glad this one survived.
