In early June we got the first word on Swedish thriller Dark Water, and now that Yellow Affair has acquired sales rights to the flick, hopefully we’ll be able to see it sooner rather than later!
Yellow Affair, known for finding quality art-house/indie films from all over the world, will first be taking Dark Water to the Venice and Toronto Film Festivals, which run August 29th-September 8th and September 6th-16th, respectively.
Dark Water (Mörkt Vatten) was directed by Rafael Edholm and stars Helena af Sandeberg, Sverrir Gudnason, and Andrzej Chyra. The flick opened in Sweden last month.
Never mix business with pleasure. Daniel is an ambitious real estate agent on the verge of landing a partnership in the firm. He is also having an affair with the lovely Marie, the boss’s wife. They take the liberty of spending a passionate weekend together in an extravagant designer country house out in the Stockholm archipelago – a house he is to sell on Monday. Everything is going well until George, the handyman, turns up. George, clearly a tortured soul, has a judgmental streak. When he sees what’s going on, he begins to test and administer his own sense of justice. And once he starts, there’s no turning back. George, the handyman, knows how to finish every job.
