The Monkey’s Paw is one of those short stories that surfaces every few years and gets adapted for one thing or another. It has exhibited decades of staying power, marking it as a true horror classic. News has come today that another version is on its way!
According to Bloody Disgusting, Brett Simmons, the director behind After Dark’s Husk, is getting back behind the camera for the latest incarnation of The Monkey’s Paw, penned by Macon Blair ( Murder Party, Hellbenders ). Of course this latest film adaptation is based on the short story of the same name by W. W. Jacobs.
This new modern take follows Jake Tilton, who, after scoring the creepy “monkey’s paw” from a co-worker, finds his life completely flipped upside down after making a pair of wishes, one of which involves resurrecting his best friend, Tony Cobb, from the dead into a sort of unkillable zombie. Cobb pressures Jake into using his final wish to reunite Cobb with his son, but he has other plans and must outwit his psychotic friend who’s on a murder spree.
Shooting begins this September in New Orleans.
