What do you get when you cross the wildly popular Monsterpalooza festival with the Halloween season? You get Son of Monsterpalooza, a brand new fest that will rise on October 26-28 at the Marriott Burbank Hotel and Convention Center.

Son of Monsterpalooza will feature celebrity guests, presentations, amazing artists, unique vendors, cool contests and a walk through a ghostly experience called “The Haunted Halls.”

The lineup of guests currently includes: Lance Henriksen (Aliens, Pumpkinhead, Near Dark), Stephen Lack (Scanners Dead Ringers), Lisa Marie (Mars Attacks! , Ed Wood, Planet of the Apes), Veronica Cartwright (Alien, Invasion of the Body Snatchers), Howard Sherman (Day of the Dead, Tales from the Darkside), Gaylen Ross (Creepshow, Dawn of the Dead), Catherine Mary Stewart (Night of the Comet, The Last Starfighter), Lori Cardille (Day of the Dead, Tales from the Darkside), John Amplas (Creepshow, Martin, Knightriders), Jenny Wright (Near Dark, I Madman, The Lawnmower Man) and The Chiodo Brothers (Killer Klowns from Outer Space). Many more guests to be named in the coming weeks.

There will also be big contests all weekend long! Saturday will feature the Son of Monsterpalooza Costume Contest which carries a first place prize of $1,000. That’s straight cash, homey! Sunday will feature Cinema Makeup School’s Monster Makeup Throwdown. Participants can win school scholarships and cash prizes. Also on Sunday is the Monsterpalooza/Don Post Studios Monster Maker Mask Contest, with over $1,200 in cash to be given away for the top three winners.

68 Kill’s Scoot McNairy Joins True Detective Season Three



About two weeks ago we let you guys know that none other than The Gate and Leatherface star Stephen Dorff had joined the upcoming third season of HBO’s “True Detective”.

Today we wanted to let you know that Monsters and 68 Kill star Scoot McNairy has joined the third season as well. He is all set to play Tom, “a father who suffers a terrible loss that ties his fate to that of two state police detectives over 10 years.”

Dorff will play Roland West, an Arkansas State Investigator who, along with his partner (Mahershala Ali), has his life and career influenced over three decades by a baffling crime.

Nic Pizzolatto will serve as showrunner and direct alongside Jeremy Saulnier. Executive producers include Pizzolatto, Saulnier, Scott Stephens and season one stars Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey as well as original director Cary Joji Fukunaga. Steve Golin, Bard Dorros, and Richard Brown are also credited as exec producers.

Panic Fest Launching Next Week in Kansas City: Dread Central Presents Taking Over!



Next week Kansas City, MO, will be inundated with the creepy, the spooky, and the downright scary as Panic Fest celebrates its 6th annual event at the Screenland Armour Theater! The three-day festival runs January 26 through 28 and will feature over 20 feature films, two short film blocks, several live events, and special guest appearances!

We truly believe this is the most solid film line-up we’ve had to date,” said Adam Roberts, co-founder of the festival and owner of Screenland Armour.

Playing at the festival will be Ted Geoghegan’s Mohawk, Ryan Prows’ Lowlife, Issa López’s Tigers Are Not Afraid, Adam Green’s Victor Crowley, Joe Lynch’s Mayhem, and more.

But why we’re really excited about the lineup is that not one, not two, but THREE Dread Central Presents films will be playing! Attendees can see Vidar the Vampire, Terrifier, and Imitation Girl during those three days, which we highly recommend doing!
