Paranormal Activity Comes Home For One Lucky Fan Along with Dread Central

Paranormal Activity (click for larger image)Leading up to next Tuesday's release of Paranormal Activity (DVD and Blu-ray review here), Paramount held an interesting contest -- one lucky fan was going to get to host a special screening of the film in his or her home along with director Oren Peli. The winner has been picked and it is ...

Jessica DiMeo of Rehoboth, Massachusetts! As an added bonus Dread Central will be on hand that same evening of Jessica's screening to host the festivities and get the party started! Expect live tweeting with pictures from the event and more! Congratulations, kiddo! See you on Monday evening!

From the official press release
Paranormal Activity, the chilling surprise hit that had fans everywhere “demanding it,” comes home on DVD and Blu-ray December 29. To celebrate, Paramount Home Entertainment will host the world premiere of an unrated version of the film for Jessica DiMeo of Rehoboth, Mass., the winner of the Paranormal Activity Red Carpet Home Screening sweepstakes.

Ms. DiMeo will receive an exclusive, red carpet premiere in her home that will be attended by Paranormal Activity’s writer/director Oren Peli on December 28, one day before the DVD and Blu-ray become available in stores. Ms. DiMeo and her guests will be the first fans to see the unrated version, which includes a shocking alternate ending not seen in theaters.

“Paranormal Activity became a hit because it was championed by fans across the country,” said Peli. “I’m delighted to be celebrating the DVD and Blu-ray debut with one of those fans.”

In addition to the premiere screening and party, Ms. DiMeo will also receive a brand new home theater system that includes a Panasonic VIERA, a brilliant 42" flat-panel plasma HDTV featuring a 600Hz subfield drive and true 1080p high-definition resolution, and a Panasonic 1000W 7.1-Channel Home Theater System with a Blu-ray disc player and a built-in dock for Apple® iPod® and VIERA CAST support. The 7.1-channel home theater is a multimedia centerpiece to a complete home entertainment system so Ms. DiMeo and her friends can experience the full impact of Paranormal Activity, which is “even scarier when you watch it at home!” (Harry Knowles, AintItCool.com).

“I am so excited,” said Jessica DiMeo. “Paranormal Activity was one of the scariest movies I’ve seen, and I can’t wait to meet the director and be the first person to see the alternate ending on Blu-ray with my brand new home theater system!” Established in 1643 as part of the Plymouth Colony, Rehoboth is one of Massachusetts’ oldest and most historic towns.

“The fan support for Paranormal Activity made the film not just a success, but a true phenomenon,” said Dennis Maguire, president Paramount Worldwide Home Entertainment. “It seemed fitting that we celebrate the film’s DVD and Blu-ray debut with a unique event to bring this home for one of those fans.”

I never thought it'd come out this fast either but clearly they want to capitalize on it while it's still a hot topic which is good for me.

I'd love to be able to talk to Peli while this movie was playing. How awesome!
