From the Press Release
Few films achieve the perfect balance of genuine sincerity, tastefully ironic humor, and the heightened level of blood and guts expected from horror movies. On July 3rd, Anchor Bay Entertainment brings you one of these rare gems with Some Guy Who Kills People. Executive produced by famed director John Landis (National Lampoon’s Animal House, An American Werewolf in London, Coming to America) and boasting impeccable performances by Kevin Corrigan (The Departed, Superbad, The Dictator), Barry Bostwick (The Rocky Horror Picture Show, TV’s “Spin City”), Karen Black (Five Easy Pieces, House of 1000 Corpses), Leo Fitzpatrick (Kids, Serendipity), Ariel Gade (AVPR: Aliens vs. Predator-Requiem, Dark Water), and Lucy Davis (Shaun of the Dead, TV’s “The Office”), this film festival favorite is coming to DVD for an SRP of $22.98.

At first glance, Ken Boyd (Corrigan) may seem like an average comic enthusiast, living with his mother and working to make ends meet as an underpaid, underappreciated ice cream parlor attendant. But Ken has a dirty little secret: He fantasizes about killing people. After being released from a stay in the loony bin for severe mental trauma suffered when he was beaten and tortured by a gang of high school thugs, Ken’s repressed anger suddenly reaches a boiling point. He begins to hunt down his tormentors, one by one, and exacts his bloody revenge – all the while forming an unconventional bond with his estranged 11-year-old daughter (Gade). The film is written by Ryan Levin (TV’s “Scrubs,” Disney Channel’s “I’m With the Band”) and directed by Jack Perez (La Cucaracha, Wild Things 2, Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus). Critics have plenty of praise for Some Guy Who Kills People’s off-beat charm, with Bloody Disgusting calling it “funny, bloody, really sweet… a welcome breath of fresh air” and Sound on Sight noting, “About halfway through Some Guy Who Kills People, I’d laughed my throat raw.”

Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation – First Trailer and Artwork!

    Published

    on

As a fan of flicks like Mad Monster Party, I was surprisingly pleased with the last two Hotel Transylvania affairs. For my money you can put the classic monsters in just about anything, and I’ll watch it happily, and these animated features feel like a natural progression of the 1967 Rankin and Bass classic. Which is why I’m looking forward to Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation, and if you are too, check out the film’s new trailer and poster.

Directed by Genndy Tartakovsky, who co-wrote the film with Michael McCullers, Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation features the voices of Adam Sandler, Andy Samberg, Selena Gomez, Kevin James, Fran Drescher, Steve Buscemi, Molly Shannon, David Spade, Keegan-Michael Key, and Mel Brooks.

Look for it in theaters on July 13, 2018.

    Synopsis:
In Sony Pictures Animation’s Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation, join our favorite monster family as they embark on a vacation on a luxury monster cruise ship so Drac can take a summer vacation from providing everyone else’s vacation at the hotel. It’s smooth sailing for Drac’s Pack as the monsters indulge in all of the shipboard fun the cruise has to offer, from monster volleyball to exotic excursions, and catching up on their moon tans.

But the dream vacation turns into a nightmare when Mavis realizes Drac has fallen for the mysterious captain of the ship, Ericka, who hides a dangerous secret that could destroy all of monsterkind.

Universal Acquires Riley Sager’s Final Girls for Film Adaptation

    Published

    on

The “final girl” has long been a staple of the horror film genre, and lately there have been several films with just about that very same title focusing on her and/or them. Well, guess what… there’s another one coming as Deadline is reporting that Universal Pictures has won a bidding battle to option rights for Final Girls, the bestselling novel from Riley Sager that hit shelves this past July.

The movie adaptation will be produced by Anonymous Content’s Nicole Clemens along with Sugar23’s Ashley Zalta and Michael Sugar as that stand-alone company continues to ramp up.

Sager’s book centers on Quincy Carpenter, who 10 years ago as a college student went on vacation to Pine Cottage with five friends and came back alone, the only survivor of a horror movie-scale massacre. In an instant, the press dubbed her a “Final Girl,” coined for the group of similar survivors.

We’ll have more for you on this as it comes.
