Lost Planet 3 has been officially announced by Capcom, and you can look for it to release in early 2013 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. Acting as a prequel to the first two Lost Planet titles, Lost Planet 3 will introduce us to a new protagonist named Jim, who has joined the colonization attempt on the previously perceived uninhabited planet of E.D.N. III.
As you uncover the true history of the planet, you will learn why the planet has never been successfully colonized despite the planet naturally oozing out useful thermal energy. A special breed of monsters known as Akrid inhabit the planet, and these monstrosities can come in all shapes and sizes and would love to devour you for lunch.
Lost Planet 3 will feel new yet familiar as you explore new parts of E.D.N. III set many years before the first game. The classic mechs make their return here, but the game will now consist of third-person shooting on foot and first-person action while piloting these kickass machines. Lost Planet 3 will also deliver more frightening environments than ever before, as you explore long forgotten ruins and other structures in search of the truth.
