Rob Zombie on Re-casting Young Michael in Halloween 2
The man himself finally commented on having to re-cast the role of young Michael Myers because intended actor Daeg Faerch has hit a hell of a growth spurt since the first film.
Says Zombie on his MySpace page:
"I know some of you are confused as to why Daeg is not in the film. Recasting young Michael was not something I wanted to do, but the scenes just didn't work anymore. Daeg is no longer a little boy, he is a teenager with a deep voice. Once you see the film you will understand why I made this choice. It was not an easy choice and was not made lightly. Daeg kicked ass in Halloween, but things change. I think Daeg is very, very talented and I wish him all the best."
No word yet on who will be replacing Daeg, but the kid will have some really big small shoes to fill.
Look for Halloween 2 on its release date of August 28th, 2009.

Again, I am in the minority. I like a lot of RZ's films... 1000 Corpses, Devil's Rejects and HALLOWEEN.
It seems that most of you are anti-RZ, which I don't understand.

I don't know that anyone here is anti-Rob Zombie, just anti-bad-movie. I think I speak for the majority when I say if someone gives us a totally kick-ass movie we will love them and forgive pretty much anything. If fuckin Uwe Boll gave a us a good movie we'd take it.

Actually, I thought The Devil's Rejects was a great film. In terms of the whole "crazy family" subgenre, I think it's one of the best.
I don't hate Halloween either, but I was pretty underwhelmed. I liked most of the first half (save for Forsythe's character and "Love Hurts") but I found the second half to be a bit of a mess.
I will say this: If H2 is to Halloween as Devil's Rejects was to House of 1000 Corpses, I'll be very happy.

I liked Corpses and LOVED Rejects. Halloween is just sacred ground to a lot of folks, including myself. Halloween felt like two movies stitched together with absolutely no balance, and a fairly bad script. The jury for me is still out on H2. I'm intrigued by what we have seen thus far, but I haven't seen anything that's made me say "I can't wait" either.

I think this is where we find out young Michael also enjoyed wearing his mum's knickers from time to time... Hence the need to have a flashback, hence the need to have Sherri Moon Zombie in the film, and hence the need to show her ass!

Why do we need to delve into the psyche of Michael some more? Didn't we learn everything we need to know about him in the first part?

Yeah--I thought Rob said this film was going to focus on Laurie instead of Michael.
It's probably just an excuse for Sheri to be in the film, being that she killed herself in the first one.

Not just Sheri ... but Sheri's ass must be in every Rob Zombie film ever made.

In Rob's defense, I *think* he's said one of the main reasons why he includes her in his work is because he wouldn't be able to see her that much otherwise.

She couldn't just hang out with him on the set? He couldn't make her part of the crew?
Real reason: Outside of porn, NO ONE would cast her in any movie besides Rob Zombie. She's an untalented fine piece of ass. It's like Kevin Smith putting Jennifer Schwalbach's bony face in every flick.

Honestly, I think Rob could rescue a bunch of kids from a burning schoolbus and you'd accuse him of pouring the gasoline.
And for the record, she *has* been sent a number scripts for other projects, and has had (admittedly small) roles in some stuff outside of Rob. It's not as if she's some Hollywood pariah.

Agreed.

Wait? You agreed with me? *phew* I've made it. :)

I wholeheartedly agree with you. I've had enough of the backstory. I want to see Myers rampage in a new film. I really hope the flashbacks are kept to a minimum. I'm holding on to hope even though there's a big part of screaming "YOU SHOULD KNOW BETTER!" in my head! LOL

It's a shame, but I guess if Rob is going to revisit the same time frame of the first film, it would make sense to have someone younger. They could have easily have Michael w/Loomis at a later point in their lives, but that would mean no Sheri, and I doubt Rob would do that.

Yep. And that's fucking weak as hell since the film is about Michael meyers NOT his white trash mother.
That said, surprisingly I do NOT share the anti-Sheri Moon sentiments. I think she is a better actress than her husband is a director. By a fucking mile.
