Over the past several weeks we’ve heard from Michael Fassbender and Ridley Scott regarding Prometheus, and now that she’s out making the PR rounds for Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, it’s time for co-star Noomi Rapace to weigh in with a few comments.

In a chat with the AP’s David Germain, Rapace offered up the following tidbits of info: “Ridley Scott is one of my heroes since as long as I can remember. I kind of actually think that he saved me sometimes because I always felt like an outsider in Sweden. I didn’t feel Swedish. I always felt like something is different with me. The Swedish people are quite repressed, and they hold back a lot of things. It’s like people are really afraid of conflicts and emotions, and nobody really says anything straight to you… So in a weird way I always felt that I was going to leave kind of what I came from. But I could never imagine I was going to end up with these people and doing movies with the best people in the world.

Rapace, who plays an archaeologist on an exploratory mission that runs into trouble in deep space, explains, “It’s not a clean prequel [to] Alien, [but] it’s definitely related. I think you will see connections.

As for how closely her character tracks to Ripley, “They are kind of in the same family. Even though I think that my character is kind of more feminine. She’s more naïve in the beginning and a believer and full of hope, and then in the middle of the movie she kind of changes into more of a warrior and a survivor.

Prometheus, starring Rapace, Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba, Patrick Wilson, Logan Marshall-Green, and Ben Foster, will be in theaters on June 8th, 2012.

Synopsis
Ridley Scott, director of ‘Alien’ and ‘Blade Runner,’ returns to the genre he helped define. With ‘Prometheus’ he creates a groundbreaking mythology in which a team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a thrilling journey to the darkest corners of the universe. There they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race.
