Unique Dark Fantasy Comedy Apocalypse, CA Coming December 13thOkay, answer this one. What has a giant asteroid on a collision course with Earth, a 300-foot tall woman, mind-bending drugs and all-out gun battle? If you said Apocalypse, CA, the upcoming film with a December 13 DVD release date, then you are absolutely right! (And probably a bit psychic…how could you know that?)

From the mind of writer/director/cinematographer Chad Peter, Apocalypse, CA stars Nick Mathis, Erin Bodine, Anne McDaniels, Alexander Cardinale, Elizabeth Sandy, Sarah Smick, and Ryan Jordan with a score penned by Avi Ghosh. We’ve got the trailer for you below. Check it out and you’ll see what I mean when I say unique. This film looks like it has real potential to be something interesting and different.

From the Press Release
Wry, cynical and full of offbeat humor, Apocalypse, CA is the story of John Parsons and his ill-fated friends as they prepare for certain death at the hands of a massive asteroid, sex-inducing drugs, a three-hundred-foot giant, and a horde of other unfortunate problems. Apocalypse, CA is an indie cult film of catastrophic proportions, featuring outstanding visual effects from artists Ryan Wieber (Ryan vs. Dorkman) and Teague Chrystie (The Pacific) in this feature film directorial debut by Chad Peter (behind the popular Internet short films Sex, Drugs & Natalie Portman and Roleplayed).

Mysterious radio personality and apparent part-time genie, ‘Sassy Boots’ (Elizabeth Sandy), takes it upon herself to grant John Parsons (Nick Mathis) a few wishes five days before the world is to be destroyed by an asteroid. Only problem is John’s wishes aren’t exactly calculated, or even planned – the end result of which is a situation far worse than before.

Accompanied by his brother, Hank (Alexander Cardinale), Hank’s friend Renee (Anne McDaniels) and John’s childhood crush Jacklyn (Erin Bodine), John and friends take the high road to Palm Springs – otherwise known as the ‘epicenter’ where the asteroid will first strike Earth. With a ‘bite the bullet’ approach, they learn a little more about life and each other, all leading up to a wild climax of booze, sex, fantasy, and guns-a-blazin’ desert adventure.

Clocking in at 87 minutes, Apocalypse, CA deftly hits its stride as a cult dark-comedy/fantasy in the making. Releases in the US and Canada on DVD this coming December 13th, 2011.
