A new slasher movie always excites me – no matter the quality. Sure the glory days are over, but that doesn’t mean these indie filmmakers can’t occasionally hit one out of the park, right? And these guys are from my home state of Massachusetts so what the hell? I’ll gladly check this out.

From the Press Release
In Blood Was Everywhere, the nightmare of the unsolved, random murder is brought to life as a faceless killer wreaks havoc on the lives of average people in a small Massachusetts town.

Blood Was Everywhere will have its world premiere on November 5 at The Green Room in Uxbridge, Massachusetts, where portions of the film were shot. Members of the cast and crew will be on hand for this special, intimate screening. The filmmakers will be taking their creation on a tour of independent theaters throughout New England in the coming months with plans for further expansion in 2012 before an eventual DVD release.

The cast features Paul Kratka (Friday the 13th Part III), the late Larry Holden (Memento, Batman Begins) and a number of fresh talent, including Ashley Arnold, Kimberly Simone, Phil Ristaino, Vanessa Leigh, John Westcott, Dita Prenn, Adam Morey, Neal Howland, Ben Kirchmyer, Erin Lynch and Kevin Hayes. Jason Torrey directs from a script that he co-wrote with J R.A Schaefer and executive producer Sherrie Lemire. His vision is brought to life by Emmy Award-winning director of photography Thomas Lowe’s refined cinematography.

Inspired by the classic slashers of the late ’70s and early ’80s such as Halloween, Black Christmas and Friday the 13th, Blood Was Everywhere is a throwback to the glory days of horror while remaining fresh and new. The film forgoes the much-maligned trappings of the genre in favor of a simple yet effective story of a random killing spree. The result is a chilling combination of horror, thriller, mystery and character study.

“Blood Was Everywhere is a dream project of mine,” said director Jason Torrey. “My aim was to do what Psycho did for the shower, what Jaws did for the ocean, except my goal was to frighten the viewer about just being at home, where you are supposed to be the safest.”
