Wonder what The CW has up its sleeve for the week leading up to Halloween? Well, on “The Vampire Diaries” the folks in Mystic Falls are celebrating Illumination Night, when the town is invaded by spirits of the dead, and then on “The Secret Circle” the hot ticket is the gang’s Halloween bash. Read on for the details of Thursday night, October 27th.

Episode 3.07 “Ghost World” (10/27/11 Air Date; 8:00-9:00 PM):
NIGHT OF ILLUMINATION — As Mystic Falls prepares to celebrate its traditional Illumination Night, the town is invaded by spirits of the dead. After a particularly violent encounter with an angry spirit, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) asks Bonnie (Kat Graham) to find the reason behind the ghost’s surprising power.

Elena (Nina Dobrev) convinces Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) to use his connection to the other side to help her find a new way to reach Stefan (Paul Wesley), leading Jeremy to a terrible choice.

Finally, Alaric (Matt Davis) discovers a long-hidden clue to the past. Candice Accola and Zach Roerig also star. David Jackson directed the episode written by Rebecca Sonnenshine.

Episode 1.07 “Masked” (10/27/11 Air Date; 9:00-10:00 PM):
CASSIE THROWS AN EPIC HALLOWEEN PARTY THAT TAKES A DANGEROUS TURN — Deciding the Circle needs to have a little fun, Faye (Phoebe Tonkin) convinces Cassie (Britt Robertson) to throw a big Halloween party. Intent on wooing Jake (guest star Chris Zylka) back, Faye goes all out on her Halloween costume.

After a fight with Diana (Shelley Hennig), Adam (Thomas Dekker) turns to Cassie for advice. Meanwhile some dangerous, uninvited guests set their sights on the Circle.

Charles Beeson directed the episode written by Michelle Lovretta.
