Netflix’s BRIGHT 2 Conjures New Screenwriter

I don’t get all the hate that was thrown at Netflix’s Bright starring Will Smith last December. I thought the film was a fun as shit and a HUGE step up for director David Ayer following the abysmal and utterly unwatchable mess that was Suicide Squad.

And thus I’m looking forward to Bright 2, which should be heading our way sooner than later as the original film scored gangbuster rating for the streaming giant. Smith and Joel Edgerton are expected to return as well as director David Ayer and producers Eric Newman and Bryan Unkeless.

Max Landis will NOT be back.

Steeping into little Landis’ place will be Beauty and the Beast and The Huntsman: Winter’s War screenwriter Evan Spiliotopoulos THR reports. I’m not overly familar with the man’s work but if the sequel aims to go more fantasy than gritty cop-drama then they seem to have hired the right guy.

Synopsis:

In an alternate present day, humans, orcs, elves, and fairies have been coexisting since the beginning of time. Two police officers, one a human, the other an orc, embark on a routine night patrol that will alter the future of their world as they know it. Battling both their own personal differences as well as an onslaught of enemies, they must work together to protect a young female elf and a thought-to-be-forgotten relic, which, in the wrong hands, could destroy everything.
