Fans of Japanese horror films will rejoice this October 11th as Lionsgate debuts a sick and strange new tale, The Sylvian Experiments, on DVD, Digital Download and On Demand. From the creators of The Ring and The Grudge, a neuroscientist begins experimenting on the human brain and her obsession turns deadly for her family.
After discovering a reel of 16mm film in the basement of a dilapidated hospital, a neuroscientist and her husband find themselves enthralled by the film’s bizarre content. The film documents underground experiments on the human brain trying to unlock the Sylvian Fissure – an invisible reality believed to be achieved between life and death. Obsessed with this surreal concept, the scientist attempts to continue the strange experiments on her own, utilizing her own daughters as test subjects.
The Pang Brothers, acclaimed directors of Bangkok Dangerous, the original The Eye, and The Messengers, return to the screen with the fourth installment of the original The Eye franchise as Lionsgate debuts The Child’s Eye on DVD, Digital Download and On Demand this October 11th. In the film, a series of supernatural events unfold for a group of travelers stranded at an airport in Bangkok. The Child’s Eye DVD includes behind-the-scenes cast and crew interviews.
A group of friends find themselves stranded in Thailand after unexpected airport closures. The Chung Tai Hotel, an old rundown building, is the only place to reside. As they uncover the history beneath the walls, they’re slowly drawn into its horrific past. The more sinister, unusual things they discover, the more their minds and bodies are taken over by the hotel’s permanent residents, making it harder to get out alive!
A sinister machine falls into the wrong hands as Lionsgate releases Needle on DVD, Digital Download and On Demand this November 29th. The supernatural slasher film stars Michael Dorman (Daybreakers), Travis Fimmel (The Experiment), Ben Mendelsohn (Knowing), Trilby Glover (TV’s William & Kate), John Jarratt (Australia), Jessica Marais (TV’s “Legend of the Seeker”) and Tahyna Tozzi (X-Men Origins: Wolverine) as a group of friends tortured by an 18th century killing device. The film won accolades at the British Horror Film Festival (2010), including Best Cinematography, Best Special Effects and Best Supporting Actress for Jessica Marais. The Needle DVD will include a “making of” featurette.
College student Ben Rutherford (Dorman) inherits a strange machine with supernatural powers from his deceased father. When the device goes missing, Ben’s friends turn up dead – all having been killed in bizarre ways. With the help of his estranged brother, Marcus (Fimmel), the two discover that the machine was built for revenge, and is seeking retribution for their father’s sins.
