Ah … Ariel Chylde. I’ve spent many, many lonely nights in the quiet confines of Doctor Gash’s secret laboratory admiring your…ahem…courage. But we all know Ariel has assets far beyond her courage and the beautiful character will be on display in all her glory in an amazing upcoming figure.
Pop Culture Shock Collectibles announces on September 8 Randy Queen’s Darkchylde: The Ariel Chylde Saga 1:4 scale statue will be available for ordering. And believe me, the legs go all the way up. Nice gams!
The statue is truly amazing and a great way to celebrate 15 years of Ariel’s barely-legal hotness. Aside from this awesome statue there is also a Darkchylde novel in the works, as well as plans for a feature film with legendary horror director John Carpenter tagged to direct.
All the specs and the ordering details you need (including how to get your paws on a rare black-dressed variant with an art print signed by Randy Queen) are listed below. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m just going to head into the bathroom with some of these Ariel promo photos…please do not disturb.

The year 2011 marks Darkchylde’s Darkchylde’s 15th Anniversary, and hot on the heels of new collected editions from Image Comics, comes one of the most elegant and evocative fine art pieces ever offered to the collectible statue market. At 1:4 scale, and a leggy 29″ tall, the smoldering, haunted visage of troubled teen Ariel Chylde with her blood red metallic dreamscape dress makes a memorable, and imposing presence.
“The tale of cursed southern teen who can shed her skin to become any of the creatures from her many recurring nightmares is one of the few independent characters to have been realized in comics, trading cards, action figures, skateboards, apparel, mini busts, and more,” says creator and writer, Randy Queen. “So to see her 15th Anniversary celebrated with new collections, new comics and novels in the works, legendary director John Carpenter on board to helm the feature film, and more 3d product than we’ve ever had at one time is tremendous. Our goal with the fine art statue was not just to create another comic book sculpture, but to manifest a classical and memorable vision of the eternal war between beauty and destruction, between hope and despair. Everyone has their own internal monsters that wish to emerge, and I think that’s why the troubled plight of Ariel Chylde has proved so resonant, and continues to endure as we position her in new media.”
