Film critics from press outlets all over have been very kind to Rise of the Planet of the Apes since its premiere. We thought you might be interested in a few excerpts from their reviews.

In case you have been living under a rock, Rise of the Planet of the Apes stars James Franco, Freida Pinto, John Lithgow, Brian Cox, Tom Felton, David Oyelowo and Andy Serkis as “Caesar”. Rupert Wyatt is directing from a screenplay written by Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver.

Heather Wixson in her Dread Central Review: “Rise of the Planet of the Apes is a masterfully crafted sci-fi/horror adventure that has the power to draw you in with both a breathtaking action story as well as the heartfelt characters at the core, making it one of the strongest and most intelligent popcorn flicks of the year.”

Now, check out what some of the other critics are saying:

Claudia Puig, USA Today: “With top-notch computer-generated images, this sci-fi action thriller revives the series and creates a palpable sense of tension, though most of the emotional depth is contained within one tortured simian.”

Dana Stevens, Slate: “That a movie starring a CGI chimp could attain this (or any) degree of emotional resonance is largely a gift of the performance of Andy Serkis, who’s been called the Charlie Chaplin of motion capture.”

Joe Morgensten, Wall Street Journal: “It boosts the collective IQ of this summer’s movies and swings into flights of kinetic fantasy that blow the collective mind” and concluded that it is “a summer spectacular both thrilling and brief.”

Peter Travers, Rolling Stone: “The real story of the film is written on the startlingly expressive face of Caesar and Serkis makes the idea of sequel seem promising instead of predictable.”
