Goodbye Dread Central! Hello Geek Terminal!

Some of you may have noticed over the past few months that Dread Central articles have periodically strayed from the horror genre. That was just a test run for the big news. Much of the Dread Central staff will soon be migrating over to our new website, Geek Terminal, a web portal covering movies, TV shows, comic books, video games, etc. News that’s important to the internet fanboy community.

Goodbye Dread Central! Hello Geek Terminal!

We’ve been holding this surprise under our hats for some time now, but today we can finally let the cat out of the bag. Dread Central co-founder and Editor-in-Chief Uncle Creepy asked me to pass along the following statement to explain:

“I write like 90 stories a week covering all the breaking news in the world of horror. God, I am so fucking burnt out on the genre. Don’t get me wrong. I still love everything horror. It’s just that I’ve been doing this non-stop for years and look forward to moving on to Geek Terminal where I’ll be able to broaden my interests, writing 90 articles a week about blockbuster superhero movies, WWE, and so on. I’ll finally be able to report about “Jersey Shore” and not get yelled at by readers because it’s not horror. You have no idea how much of a relief it will be to write about Twilight while no longer having to pretend like I don’t really love the books and the movies. Yeah. That’s right. I’ve been Team Edward all along!”

Not to fear, Dreadheads. Your horror needs will be catered to as Dread Central will continue to live on, albeit as just one of the many Geek Terminal sub-sites. Taking over the editing duties of Dread Central will be our own Matt Fini. He replied rather quizzically to my email asking him how he feels to be the new DC Editor-in-Chief, “Huh? This is the first I’ve heard about this. Shouldn’t someone ask me first? I have a damn life, you know? This is bullshit.”

According to Uncle Creepy Andrew Kasch was the first choice, but his phone couldn’t hold a signal long enough to give a confirmative answer in time for today’s launch announcement.

Other Geek Terminal sub-sites will include a video game news and reviews site run by our own Mr. Dark, Nomad’s own action figure site complete with kung-fu grip™, a tech page with Jon Condit showcasing the newest high-tech ways to make fire, The Woman in Black’s interactive political fiction domain, a Hollywood gossip blog edited by yours truly, and an adults-only section in which Buz will cover all the latest bumpin’ and grindin’ going on in the world of adult movies. More will be announced in the weeks to come as everything is finalized in anticipation of the July 4th launch date. We’ll be bringing you all the dirty details on what to expect soon.

With a new website covering a broader range of topics, Uncle Creepy also finds himself in search of a new, less horror-centric moniker. You’re invited to send in your own suggestions, and if yours is selected, you’ll be rewarded with your own blog on Geek Terminal where you can write about anything you want. Better act fast as possible name change selections are already being strongly considered. Amongst the new nicknames already well in the running: Uncle Crispy, Geekmaster General, Hairless Knowles, Gnarlywhal, Lil’ Jack Dupp, and The April Fool.
