Penanggal Trailer Brings the Flying Vampire Head Goods

A Penanggal is a vampire-like creature of Malaysian folklore described as a female with the ability at night to detach her head from her body and fly about seeking victims as her lungs, stomach, and intestines dangle below it. Sounds like a monster deserving of its own movie even if it is in a foreign language.

The ever reliable Avery Guerra sent over this trailer for what I presume is a Malaysian-produced horror movie titled Penanggal that brings this grotesque monster of legend into the 21st century. Other than the trailer, which is in a language I do not know, and info that it was written and produced by Michael Ang from a script by Sofia J. Rhyland, I really can’t find anything else out there about Penanggal. Not even a website for production company Cube Film. Just this trailer.

If you actually want to see the Penanggal in all its gory glory, you’ll have to wait until the very end of the not subtitled preview.
