Official – D.J. Caruso to Direct Preacher Adaptation

PreacherJust last week we told you about the possibility of director D.J. Caruso (Disturbia, Eagle Eye, I Am Number 4) helming the big screen adaptation of the Garth Ennis comic epic Preacher, and now it seems as if that possibility has become a reality.

According to Caruso on Twitter, “My deal just closed on Preacher. Going back to the dark side and pretty fucking pumped!”

So there you have it! We’ll wait until a bit more official confirmation comes before we get too excited about anything, but what do you guys think of the choice? Sound off below!

For those of you not familiar with the tale (and shame on you if you’re not), Preacher follows a distressed man of the cloth named Jesse Custer who goes on a trip to literally find God after he was possessed and killed his entire congregation and destroyed his church. Custer is joined on his road trip by old flame Tulip and a hard-drinking Irish vampire named Cassidy.

Look for more … as always … soon.

If I were a praying man, I’d pray that this adaptation dies in development hell. Scrap the fucking thing and pitch it to Showtime.

This guy is not a talent. A typical Hollywood director who likes dumb material he can make dumber. Ennis’ story is doomed.

    Bad choice.

DJ Caruso on Preacher sounds like fans of the comic just got the shaft, big time, heh.
“We are bad guys. That means we’ve got more to do other than bullying companies. It’s fun to lead a bad man’s life.”
