With news coming fast and furious and everyone in a mad dash to be first, sometimes things are reported on just a little too prematurely. Case in point …
Despite early reports that The Loved Ones‘ Robin McLeavy would be portraying a key player in the upcoming film adaptation of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, the role has officially gone to another actress.
According to The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision Blog Mary Elizabeth Winstead (pictured right) will play Mary Todd in 20th Century Fox’s period vampire adventure. She’ll star opposite Benjamin Walker, who plays Abraham Lincoln. Dominic Cooper and Anthony Mackie also star as Lincoln’s mentor Henry and best friend Will, respectively.
Fox is aiming at a June 22nd, 2012, release for the Tim Burton-produced horror adventure based upon Seth Grahame-Smith’s novel of the same name.
Book Synopsis
When Abraham Lincoln was nine years old, his mother died from an ailment called the “milk sickness.” Only later did he learn that his mother’s deadly affliction was actually the work of a local vampire, seeking to collect a debt owed by Lincoln’s father. When Abe learned the truth, he vowed revenge and kept one passion hidden throughout his life: the brutal elimination of all vampires. His valiant, bloody fight against the undead was all but lost to history, until Grahame-Smith stumbled upon the secret journal of Abraham Lincoln.
Using the journal as his guide, Seth reconstructs Lincoln’s life story and uncovers the role vampires played in the birth, growth, and near-death of our nation. You don’t know Abe. Honest.
