Colin Farrell on Fright Night Remake

While doing press for latest film, The Way Back, Colin Farrell has also been fielding lots of questions as to his upcoming role of the vamp next door, Jerry Dandrige, in the remake of the Tom Holland classic Fright Night. So what’s he have to say about the flick? It may just surprise you.

“I mean, I loved the original, and I hope the film is — on its own — entertaining and works,” Farrell tells MTV. “Because I really did love the original, so much so that — as I’ve said — I was hoping I wouldn’t like the remake when I read it, because I didn’t want to have to answer questions about remakes and lack of originality and all that shit. I didn’t want to think of myself in those terms either, so I was hoping that I didn’t like it. But read it and I’m an actor and I loved it and I went, ‘OK, let’s go to work.’ I mean, it’s close enough in structure and story [to the original], but there are some things that have been changed. Peter Vincent’s a lot younger, and what he does has kind of been put into a very contemporary setting. There are some changes.”

Synopsis
“Senior Charlie Brewster (Anton Yelchin) finally has it all going on: he’s running with the popular crowd and dating the most coveted girl in his high school. In fact, he’s so cool he’s even dissing his best friend. But trouble arrives when Jerry (Colin Farrell) moves in next door. He seems like a great guy at first, but there’s something not quite right—but everyone, including Charlie’s mom (Toni Collette), doesn’t notice. After observing some very strange activity, Charlie comes to an unmistakable conclusion: Jerry is a vampire preying on the neighborhood. Unable to convince anyone, Charlie has to find a way to get rid of the monster himself in this Craig Gillespie-helmed revamp of the comedy-horror classic.”
