Dark Horse Comics Sending Us an AngelGood news for fans of Joss Whedon’s Buffyverse as Dark Horse Comics has announced that Angel will be returning to the Dark Horse stable in 2011, allowing Whedon’s vampire detective to continue his adventures in a new title running alongside Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season Nine.

From the Press Release:
Dark Horse’s Angel will bring the beloved characters from Whedon’s longest-running shows under one roof, allowing for new and exciting explorations of the Buffyverse featuring favorites from the casts of both series.

“I’ve always regretted letting Angel go in the first place,” Dark Horse Comics senior managing editor Scott Allie said, “so we’re really excited about getting him back as well as all his supporting cast. It’s necessary for how Joss wants to handle [Buffy] Season Nine, details of which will start spilling out in the months to come. Right now we’ve got to wrap up Season Eight, and IDW still has a good long run of books before Season Nine starts.”

IDW Publishing confirmed that it will launch the company’s final Angel story arc in November. This closing six-issue arc will serve as a bridge to Dark Horse Comics, which will pick up the series in late 2011. Under the direction of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel creator Joss Whedon, all parties are working together for as seamless a transition as possible. The companies have been coordinating storylines in both Dark Horse’s Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season Eight and IDW’s Angel, creating a greater sense of cohesion and cooperation to ensure that this transition is true to both ongoing storylines and to the faithful fans of both series.

When Will Stephen King’s Mr. Mercedes Season 2 Premiere?

Published

on

Three months back we let you guys know that the second season of Stephen King’s Mr. Mercedes TV series had cast Tessa Ferrer (Insidious: The Last Key) to star as a series regular opposite Jack Huston, with production set to begin in Charleston, SC the following month.

Well, shooting on season two must have gone well because today Deadline confirms that the ten-episode second season will begin airing on the AT&T Audience Network August 22.

I didn’t watch the first season myself because I was hoping to read the book first… but that didn’t happen. Anyhow, I plan to catch up before season 2 begins airing this August.

What did you think of Season 1 of Mr. Mercedes? Make sure to hit us up and let us know what you think in the comments below or on Facebook, Twitter, and/or Instagram!

The second season will also be based on King’s “Bill Hodges Trilogy” (Mr. Mercedes, Finders Keepers, and End of Watch) and hits AT&T Audience Network August 22.

Season 1 Synopsis:

Demented killer Brady Hartsfield (Treadaway) taunts retired police detective Bill Hodges (Gleeson) with a series of lurid letters and emails, forcing the ex-cop to undertake a private, and potentially felonious, crusade to bring the killer to justice before he is able to strike again.

Blumhouse Reveals Halloween Poster With Michael in Full Glory!

Published

on

The poster for Blumhouse’s Halloween has been revealed and it’s almost brilliant in its simplicity. Featuring Michael’s iconic mask in the upper left, it practically looms over the blackness of the bottom right, Michael’s almost entirely black stare looking at the Halloween font. His mask is cracked and weathered, almost as though it aged and wrinkled with him, dirt and grime collecting around the eyes and nostrils. In short, it’s absolutely fantastic.

Speaking recently with Halloween Daily News, Nick Castle, who plays Michael Myers, explained, “Yes, and it’s very neighborhood-centric, you know, like the first one. It feels a lot like (the first film). There are a lot of things coinciding (in the new film) that feel like clever ways to introduce a kind of déjà vu of the first one, without feeling like it’s being copied. The script had some very clever people working on it. They were very clear on wanting to find the tone that was in the first one. It was the first thing out of their mouths really: ‘We want to do it like John did it.’

Halloween is directed by David Gordon Green based on a script he wrote with Danny McBride. Jamie Lee Curtis returns as Laurie Strode as does Nick Castle as Michael “The Shape” Myers. They are joined by Will Patton, Andi Matichak, and Judy Greer, the latter two who play Curtis’ granddaughter and daughter, respectively. Halloween creator John Carpenter is on board as executive producer and composer.

Jamie Lee Curtis returns to her iconic role as Laurie Strode, who comes to her final confrontation with Michael Myers, the masked figure who has haunted her since she narrowly escaped his killing spree on Halloween night four decades ago.

Venture back into Haddonfield when Halloween goes trick or treating on October 19.
