The Marvel Universe is in a very odd place right now. On one end of the spectrum they have entered the “Heroic Age”, and on the other is the “Curse of the Mutants” we’ve been making fun of for some time now, mostly because Marvel keeps pitching art at us with all the X-Men baring fangs and looking generally silly. Now we get word of a secondary book dropping this September that tells the tale of the X-Men’s science team as they search for a cure for the vampire outbreak. The tone seems very Aliens, a fact I thought might get the attention of Dread’s readers. Here’s the skinny…
X-Men: Curse Of The Mutants – Smoke And Blood #1 is from the creative team of Simon Spurrier (writer) and Gabriel Hernandez Walta (penciler) with cover by Clayton Crain. The new vampire threat has infected San Francisco, and it’s up to the X-Men’s Science Team to find the cure! The team of super scientists may have bitten off more than they can chew when the X-Club loses the vampire they’ve brought in for observation. With the lab on lockdown and a vampire on the loose, the X-Club is sure of only one thing: It’s going to take more than a doctoral degree in biochemistry to survive this night!

I also thought I’d kick over teaser art for The End, which I suppose will wrap up the “Daredevil turned criminal overlord” storyline that reached its pinnacle in Shadowland #1 with the horn head unceremoniously shanking Bullseye in a full-page spread. AWESOME. All we know right now is the teaser art kicks ass, and it will hit comic shops this November!
