Pascal Laugier to Bring us The Tall Man!

And right about now if you listen closely, you can hear the sounds of Phantasm fans around the world screaming! Rest easy, people! We’re not talking about a remake or even that long rumored sequel. What we are getting at, though, is the English language feature film debut from Martyrs director Pascal Laugier, The Tall Man. There. That got you smiling again, no?

Screen Daily reports that Laugier’s The Tall Man is gearing up for production and is a suspenseful thriller in the vein of the early films of M. Night Shyamalan. You remember them? The good ones in which kids saw dead people!

Even better, sultry badass final girl Jessica Biel (Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Blade: Trinity) will be starring in the movie, which centers on a woman who must grapple with and track the mysterious figure of The Tall Man who has kidnapped her child.

According to Laugier, who also wrote the film, “I like to think of The Tall Man as a sort of Panic Room… outside! It is a ‘woman in jeopardy’ movie with a lot of twists and a strong female character that you feel very connected to.”

Clement Miserez (Radar Films) and Steven Schneider (Room 101, Paranormal Activity, Area 51) are set to produce.

I hope this doesn’t mean the director has decided to pull his own fangs.

    This sounds distressingly edge-less.
