IDW Releasing the First Issues of Four New Comic Series This Month

IDW Publishing is unleashing four new horror-infused comic series this month, and we’ve got the cover artwork and story details for you on all of them!

  • Kill Shakespeare #1

Conor McCreery, Anthony Del Col (w) • Andy Belanger (a) • Kagan McLeod, Belanger (c)

What Fables does for fairy tales, Kill Shakespeare does with the greatest writer of all time. This dark take on the Bard pits his greatest heroes (Hamlet, Juliet, Othello Falstaff) against his most menacing villains (Richard III, Lady Macbeth, Iago) in an epic adventure to find and kill a reclusive wizard named William Shakespeare. This debut – featuring a full 32-page story – will change the way you look at Shakespeare forever. (2 regular covers will be shipped in a 1-to-1 ratio.)

  • The Pilgrim #1

    Mark Ryan (w) • Mike Grell (a & c)

Artist Mike Grell (Jon Sable Freelance, The Warlord) teams up with writer/actor Mark Ryan (the Transformers movies) in an amazing story 15 years in the making. Weaving together true timelines from WWII and the present day, The Pilgrim is a tale of war and the supernatural, drawing on the history of the occultism used by both British and Nazi forces and fusing it with a modern day intelligence and espionage story ripped from today’s headlines.

  • Pantheon #1

    Marc Andreyko (w) • Stephen Molnar (a) • The Sharp Brothers (c)

Earth in the near future is a place where the only gods worshipped are money and power. When black-market artifacts dealer Hamilton Finch stumbles upon a cache of ancient treasures, he does not expect to come face-to-face with Zeus himself! Is it true? Do the gods walk among us? And what event has caused them to show themselves after so many millennia? (Created by TV and movie star Michael Chiklis!)

  • Wire Hangers #1

    Alan Robert (w & a) • Robert, Nelson DeCastro (c)

Rocker Alan Robert of the legendary metal-crossover music group Life of Agony writes and illustrates this twisted horror/conspiracy series. Wire Hangers uses nightmarish visuals and graphic storytelling to depict a wave of abductions plaguing New York City. Pill-popping detectives, corrupt secret agents, and a mysterious, disfigured homeless man are all inter-connected in this horrific tale of revenge and redemption. (2 regular covers will be shipped in a 1-to-1 ratio.)

    • Vanvance1

Alan Roberts! Wow… um who the hell is he? Legendary? Ah well if KFC can call it’s chicken burger legendary I guess this wank can be a chicken burger too.

    • Floydian Trip

They all sound incredibly lame to me.

      • Terminal

        Shockingly I agree with Floydian.
        ———-
“We are bad guys. That means we’ve got more to do other than bullying companies. It’s fun to lead a bad man’s life.”

        • Floydian Trip

“Shockingly”, “For Once” you agree with me too much to use those words you know.

          • Terminal

            What are you getting at?
            ———-
“We are bad guys. That means we’ve got more to do other than bullying companies. It’s fun to lead a bad man’s life.”

            • Floydian Trip

Well, if you consider an ant crawling on the ground to be a shocking sight then nothing.

            • Terminal

As always Floydian, I have no idea what the fuck you’re talking about.
              ———-

      • MarkRyan

        Hi There…Fjordian Drip…

Then why not get off your lame “my mom’s basement” ass and do something memorable or even meaningful with your life?..Like try writing!

Or…Simply come and say “Hi!” next time you see me at a convention and I’ll be happy to personally explain what “lame” would really feel like for you…

        Have a nice evening.

        Mark Ryan.
        (Really)

        • Terminal

          Hehehe, he said “drip.”
          ———-
“We are bad guys. That means we’ve got more to do other than bullying companies. It’s fun to lead a bad man’s life.”

          • Floydian Trip

If he’s a writer I’m not impressed. A 12 year old could do better. If he wanted me to read it he should have explained why it is not lame. Now I can only think he’s being defensive because it is, in fact, lame,

            • Terminal

I don’t know Floydian, I’m beginning to think these are all plants used to start something with users in an attempt to garner attention to the specific thread. Either that or everyone on the internet is so goddamn immature, even the people with big releases coming up.

I don’t even know what Fjordian means. I looked it up, it means nothing.
              ———-
“We are bad guys. That means we’ve got more to do other than bullying companies. It’s fun to lead a bad man’s life.”

            • FireRam

I did the same lol. Then I looked at my keyboard and see that the J is is quite close the L(obviously) so I assume the poor fella was just so damn flustered he might have made a simple little typo and did not realize after the fact he could have clicked on “edit” and fixed said typo. Maybe he’s experiencing “manopause” who knows. Seems easily excitable.

              Looked him up though:

              http://www.markryan.info/

He is a Swordmaster though so to quote the brave knight from Monty Pythons “The Search for the Holy Grail”…
              RUN AWAY! RUN AWAYYYYYYYYY!!!

            • Terminal

But then what do you account for the R over the Y? What would Flordian mean?

Hey, Floydian and I don’t get along well, but even I have to admit that Mark (if it actually IS Mark) is being a bitch. Not a bitch like a prick, but more a bitch like someone dropped his ice cream on the floor and needs to be hugged by his mom or something.

He works for IDW, he has a bunch of projects in the pipeline, why come to this site to attack a random poster? Unless it’s someone pretending to be Mark to attack Floydian, then I can understand that.

“We are bad guys. That means we’ve got more to do other than bullying companies. It’s fun to lead a bad man’s life.”

            • FireRam

OH…..didn’t see the R over the Y. Thought Floydian Drip was the intention. Haha. And I don’t know Terminal, seems like you and Floydian have been in agreement quite often as of late! Hell, I saw it twice in ONE day!! LOL
Come on man, I feel the love.
Actually, shit, there it is, right below! Hahaha

            • Terminal

LMAO, FireRam you crack me the fuck up.

I don’t want to read the comics now after seeing the writer come up with such a lame ass retort as “Fjordian Drip.”
              ———-
“We are bad guys. That means we’ve got more to do other than bullying companies. It’s fun to lead a bad man’s life.”

            • Verdugo

Maybe Mark was trying to say that Floydian Trip is like a long narrow inlet of the sea between steep cliffs.

              Wait…that explains nothing…

            • Terminal

LMFAO! My god this thread has become hysterical. Well played Verdugo.

“We are bad guys. That means we’ve got more to do other than bullying companies. It’s fun to lead a bad man’s life.”

            • The Woman In Black

You guys have made my day! LMAO! But I do feel a little bad for Mark. His comic does sound promising.

            • Terminal

You’re very tolerant than because his attack was juvenile, moronic, and just plain stupid. So what if one person doesn’t look forward to this comic?

“We are bad guys. That means we’ve got more to do other than bullying companies. It’s fun to lead a bad man’s life.”

            • The Woman In Black

I’m the queen of tolerance … or did you forget whom I live with? LOL

I mostly meant I feel bad he portrayed himself in such a poor light. The Internet is like that though — People react and then are stuck with whatever they said in the heat of the moment.

            • Terminal

First impressions count for everything. And my impression is that some internet troll got lucky.

He’s a swordmaster? Holy crap! Well if any dragons or rival tribes attack my neighborhood I’ll call him.

        • FireRam

AW, looks like someones feelings got hurt. MEOW.

        • Marcus_Crowley

          OK Folks! Enough already.

This isn’t me and it’s not the first time I’ve been impersonated on a message board. It actually happens quite often on IMDb.

It’s probably just some Transformers fan angry because I said I preferred the Camaro over the VW Bug…

Anyway! If you have a serious questions about The Pilgrim you can find me on Facebook or MySpace or simply contact Angela Moore at Starfish PR. I’ll be happy to answer your questions.

          Enjoy your evening.

          Mark Ryan

          • Terminal

Ahhh, the classic “someone was impersonating me” routine. Well played Mark. Well played. *rubs chin*

    • anémique

pantheon looks like vic mackey on magiks. 🙂

      • frank_dracman

Not just Mackey, but evil Mackey complete with “Evil Star Trek Goatee”!

        • Floydian Trip

I think he looks like an overweight couch potatoe with that stupid look on his face that people get when staring at the TV too long. American Idol and Dancing With The Stars are his favorite shows. Go Buzz is what he’s thinking.

    • Terminal

Okay, I give up, what do those pictures of those two guys at the computers have anything to do with the comics.
      ———-
“We are bad guys. That means we’ve got more to do other than bullying companies. It’s fun to lead a bad man’s life.”

      • The Woman In Black

Oops – my bad. I had copied the image tags from another story and missed updating a couple. Much better now, right?

        • Terminal

          *starts slow clap*
