The Wolfman Blu-ray and DVD Art and Specs

While The Wolfman didn’t exactly slay at the box office, Universal is still putting together a home video release to howl over come its release! That is, if you have a Blu-ray player. DVD faithful — not so much.

Look for the film to hit DVD, Blu-ray, and Digital Demand on June 1st of this year. Each retail package of the film will be home to two versions – the theatrical cut and also the director’s cut, which runs a full sixteen minutes longer. Further details are listed below along with the artwork. We’re still a ways out, but for now it looks as if DVD owners are only getting the deleted and extended scenes. This could change. We’ll let you know if it does.

I liked this flick and I’m excited to get the Blu-ray.

Woohoo! Good thing I finally bought a Blu-ray player. I loved the movie although the beginning felt a bit rushed, hopefully the 16 mins will fix that problem.

    • Terminal

I’ll buy the DVD. I’m curious to see how this movie is in spite of having the twist ruined for me.

      • Uncle Creepy

        There was a twist?!?

        • Terminal

There was a big ballyhoo about critics ruining the big twist in the film in their reviews. Stupid me I assumed coming to this board would grant me some interesting discussion and instead I got the big reveal ruined for me. I have to stay out of boards when movies come out until I actually see them.

I have no intention whatsoever of buying this movie on DVD or Blu-Ray. I have all the original Universal Wolf Man movies and Hammer’s The Curse of The Werewolf; don’t need to add this one to my collection.

          • Rob

See, to me, if you saw the second trailer, the twist was all but given away, given some of the dialogue that was spoken in it. “Run free, kill or be killed.” And “It is glorious, isn’t it?” Just the way those lines were spoken pretty much gave it away to me.

            • Terminal

Oh so because a trailer is somewhat indicative of a twist it warrants ruining the twist?

I wish all trailers were shot independent of the actual feature and used no footage from it.

These days I can watch 3 or 4 minute trailers and feel I’ve already seen the whole movie (sometimes you have).

            • Rob

Reviews often spoil movie twists, and when the marketing for a movie doesn’t seem that concerned about keeping aspects of the movie a secret, it’s a very good chance that reviews are going to be even less concerned. But I never said it warrants ruining the twist. You just gotta be careful with reviews you read, but sorry it got spoiled for you.

            • Terminal

I expect trailers to ruin shit. After the first week in theaters the trailers for Cloverfield completely gave away the look for Clovey.

Movie critics have a responsibility to their readers to not only inform them what they’re getting in to but to also help improve their viewing experience.

In my opinion only complete jack asses give away big plot twists and surprise endings in their reviews. I don’t give a crap if the movie is awful or excellent, have a little common courtesy and avoid the spoilers.

And if you ARE going to spoil something, provide a spoiler warning for Christ sake. There’s no excuse for giving away big twists on a review.

As for being ruined on a message board, that’s my own fault. I keep forgetting people are too dim to keep some things a secret.

Screw DVD! It’s overpriced, looks like crap and doesn’t deserve special features!
