New Trailer for The New Daughter

The trailer for Anchor Bay’s little seen or talked about Kevin Costner spooker, Luis Berdejo’s The New Daughter, will be hitting DVD and Blu-ray on May 18th, and we’ve got a look at the trailer for you!

The New Daughter follows John James (Costner) as he tries to rebuild his family after a painful divorce. John has his hands full raising his youngest child, Sam (Gattlin Griffith), and especially his adolescent daughter, Louisa (Ivana Baquero of Pan’s Labyrinth in her first English-speaking role).

As Louisa’s troubling behavior continues, far beyond the average tween angst and frustrations, John begins doubting his parental abilities. But when events around the James household start taking on an increasingly mysterious nature, John realizes that his family may be in mortal danger. Co-starring Samantha Mathis (The Punisher, The American President), The New Daughter is adapted by John Travis (The Haunting of Molly Hartley) from the short story by John Connolly.

Bonus features on both the DVD and Blu-ray include:

You're such an inspiration for the ways that I will never, ever choose to be.

Orphan was bad enough as it is and it didn’t have Kevin Costner in it.

      • frank_dracman

Surprisingly enough, I kinda liked Orphan, if only for it’s sheer preposterousness. Yep, that’s a word alright. Don’t Argue!

        • Terminal

Orphan is a nice demented little gem. I didn’t find it preposterous at all to be honest. I can definitely see how Esther would slip through the cracks.

I thought it was a ridiculous movie myself and agreed with all the absurdities brought up in the DFF but totally disagreed with the amount of praise it got in the review. I think these guys tend to be more honest and correct in the DFF’s.

You have to remember a review is just one person on the site’s opinion. If I’d written the review after seeing Orphan for the first time, it would have been pretty much in line with yours, FT. Although I have to admit I did enjoy it a lot more the second time around, knowing the “twist”.

            • Floydian Trip

Speaking of your opinion WIB, why are you or any woman from this site never involved with the DFF’s? A little estrogen wouldn’t hurt would it?

            • The Woman In Black

I’m not a good one to participate — too soft-spoken to compete with those loud-mouths! We have had Morgan sit in on one, and we’re working on getting Heather in there as well, but it mostly just boils down to timing and availability.

I liked him when he was pitching computers. Such charisma! Such talent!

    • Floydian Trip

So is this supposed to be like Orphan or just sound like it?

    • Terminal

Poor Kevin Costner. Such a fall from grace.

BTW, check out Kevins hand on the picture. It looks like his hand is from someone who is 100 years old :-) It’s like a leathery glove! Perhaps they should have Photoshopped his hand as well, not only his face! :-D

Haha, the cover artwork for this movie is just SO poor! :-D Seems like they nowadays spend 40cents and 5 minutes of work on that kind of stuff. A shame really!
