Director Albert Pyun sent over a new work-in-progress screengrab from his Tales of an Ancient Empire and also let us know that they’ve started taking pre-orders on the film via his official website.
A brief synopsis of Tales of an Ancient Empire, which stars Christopher Lambert, Melissa Ordway, Kevin Sorbo, Lee Horsley, Victoria Maurette, and Jennifer Siebel Newsom, is as follows: A princess (Ordway) is on a quest to unite the five greatest warriors to save her kingdom from a demon sorceress. But the odyssey to find them reveals a secret past for all.
Pyun tells us, “We are careening wildly to the April 23rd theatrical release date and April 26th ship date. You can look forward to some final screenshots at the end of next week when we conclude the effects shooting. Final key art will be available by April 9th, and we should have the trailer ready by the 12th.
The film is amazing … very hard R, and the vampire element edges toward the horrific.”
Sign us up! Tales of an Ancient Empire sounds like just the kind of hard-core vampire film we need right now.
Pyun also provided us with the link to a behind-the-scenes clip showing the cast and crew preparing for a shot and then how the shot looks in the finished film. It’s a scene of the vampire sorceress Xia (Whitney Able) emerging from the palace to hunt for Princess Tanis (Melissa Ordway).
