Fright Night Remake Director Now Official!

It’s been a long, tedious road for the remake of the Tom Holland classic Fright Night, but the film finally has its director locked and loaded!

According to the Variety Lars and the Real Girl‘s Craig Gillespie has officially signed on to take the reins of the film and will be shooting from a script by Marti Noxon (“Buffy the Vampire Slayer”). Michael De Luca and Alison Rosenzweig are producing.

In the original film the story revolved around a teenager who discovers that his new next-door neighbor is a vampire looking to kill, cause chaos, and generally make life hell for the young lad. How far will this one stick to formula? Only time will tell. In the interim check out the trailer for the source material below.

You're such an inspiration for the ways that I will never, ever choose to be.

I can all ready tell this movie is going to suck ass with the whole ‘Vegas magician’ bit. The director/writer behind that idea is a piece of shit.

No interest whatsoever in this one. While the original might not be great, it’s nevertheless a good, hearty slice of 80’s fun. At the very least, the remake will hopefully get us a nice special edition of the original.

This could be better than the original. The directing talent they got is at the top of their game and adding in a little Buffy The Vampire Slayer to it can only make it more relevant. They could change it to Fright Night High.

Why do they have to call this movie Fright Night? Can’t they just call it ‘Teenage Vampire Cash In’?

The only good thing that can possibly result from this is Tom Holland getting some loot so he can make another movie.

Man I have no faith in this project. How do you remake a movie like “Fright Night”? You can’t. I expect something in the area of “Disturbia” with vampires. You know, less binoculars and window watching and more technological surveillance and webcam shit. Man, “Fright Night” is the only “Rear Window” rip off that’s come close to its greatness, this has no hope.

Yet another film i love and grew up with is being Raped by hollywood there is no way in hell will they be able to be as good as the original i mean you just cant Top Chris Sarandan and Roddy Mcdowell or the rest of the cast for that matter. and now since its being Done by Dreamworks i am more then positive its gonna suck bad…why cant hollywood and filmgoers in general go back to wanting some originality quit remaking classic films and start making more originals and to this new generation of fans i say get your own identity and stop wanting to copy other generations

I echo those sentiments…easily one of the best horror-comedies ever…I mean, you just don’t get a character like Evil these days…

I just really don’t have high hopes for this at all…

Fright Night – easily one of my favorite horror films. Period.

Its still brilliant both in its writing and in its presentation of the material. Also, the performances, all of them, are top, top notch.

For me, this is THE best vampire film ever made.

Do NOT fuck this one up guys. Don’t do it. Please!

At the very least, this should help get us a special edition Blu-ray of the original.

We are in total agreement on this.
