Twilight Saga: New Moon Sets Advance Sale Record; Jacob Barbie Doll on the Way

As mentioned a couple of days ago, The Twilight Saga: New Moon was well on its way to setting a new record with Fandango for advance ticket sales, and the film has indeed achieved that milestone. But if you haven’t bought your tickets yet, don’t be discouraged; theater owners are still adding screens and posting new showtimes online.

According to the ticket seller, “Twi-Hard” fans have taken over Fandango this week, with New Moon reigning as the #1 daily ticket-seller, representing 94% of today’s sales, and the Thursday night re-release of Twilight coming in as the #2 top daily ticket-seller, representing 2% of today’s sales.

And, because we know you guys are on pins and needles for more fun facts about the Saga:

• 98% say the action in New Moon looks better than the action in Twilight.
• 72% plan to see the movie with a group of three friends or more.
• 52% of survey respondents say they dream about vampires.
• 22% are mothers and daughters planning to see New Moon together.
• 10% plan to show up at the theater in costume, dressed as characters from the Saga.

That’s all well and good, but what are true Twi-heads to do once they’ve seen New Moon three, four, or even five times in the theatre and the interminable wait for Eclipse begins in full force? Why, play with their Edward and Bella Barbie dolls of course! The toys were released earlier this month on November 1st and have been huge sellers for Mattel. But … something’s missing, no? What about Team Jacob? Why don’t they get a doll to play with? Fret no longer, kids!

In February, 2010 (the same month Taylor turns 18), the folks at Mattel will be giving you ample opportunity to behold Jacob and his tan (such as it is for a Barbie doll) since his only accessories are ripped denim shorts and sneakers.

Finally, if you missed the New Moon red carpet interviews/premiere in Los Angeles last night, MTV has a great live blog from the event that will *almost* make you feel like you were right there with them. Check it out, and keep it here for more on New Moon as the countdown commences for its release this Friday, November 20th.
