Twisted Pictures Prepping a 3D Texas Chainsaw MassacreJason’s done 3D (and will do so again next year). Freddy’s done 3D. Michael Myers might do 3D. Now Leatherface is going to rev up his chainsaw for a three-dimensional chainsaw massacre, at least if the Saw producers close their pending deal to take over the Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise.

Variety bring us the somewhat surprising news that Twisted Pictures, the production company behind the Saw franchise, is looking to bring another saw into their fold, a chainsaw to be exact. It seems Platinum Dunes’ per pic deal with Chainsaw rights-holders Bob Kuhn and Kim Henkel (producers of the original 1974 classic) fell apart, and Twisted Pictures jumped in for multiple movie discussions.

The plan now is to contemporize the storyline for a 3D Texas Chainsaw Massacre reboot scripted by Stephen Susco, writer of the American reduxes of The Grudge. With the Saw guys behind the film, expect 50% less grittiness and 75% more dank.

So for those of you keeping track, we’ve now gone from getting remakes barely a quarter century old to remakes of remakes not even a decade old. But in 3D, which apparently makes it cool.
