With Paranormal Activity quickly reaching cult fame amongst the horror fanbase, the film’s producers are hard at work trying to find us some new reasons to be afraid of the dark.
According to THR’s Risky Biz Blog Sidney Kimmel Entertainment is close to acquiring a spec from Paranormal Activity producers Steven Schneider and Jason Blum, as well as scribe Carey Malloy, titled The Jealous One.
The project is a Hitchcockian thriller, based on Celia Fremin’s 1985 book, that centers on a wife who dreams she murdered a woman who might be tempting her husband, only to find the woman has in fact disappeared. (Ian Levy also will produce, while Dan Cohen and Jodi Hildebrand brought the project to SKE.)
Also within that article it’s stated that there’s a sequel to Paranormal Activity filming now in Utah. Just to be clear — we don’t know where that information came from, but that is NOT happening.
In other project news, director Peli’s Area 51 begins shooting next week and Jason Blum is in development on Refuge at Mandate, while Steven Schneider is producing The Colony with Participant.
Look for more on The Jealous One soon.
