Platinum Dunes Signs with Paramount, First Film Announced

Platinum Dunes Signs with Paramount, First Film AnnouncedSo it’s official. Michael Bay and company have pulled up stakes and headed over to Paramount to continue their particularly evil ways. Please, powers that be … keep them away from Paranormal Activity. Just can’t imagine that flick with explosions or faux grittiness.

Variety reports that Paramount Pictures has signed a first-look producing deal with Platinum Dunes, the genre division run by Michael Bay, Brad Fuller, and Andrew Form.

Even better the first film out of the gate will not be a remake, sequel, or reboot. Instead it will be The Butcherhouse Chronicles, a thriller that is being scripted by Stephen Susco (The Grudge).

Every town has that one scary house that everyone talks about, and it’s about a group of kids, a la Breakfast Club, from different cliques, who all get together and go into this one house, and what happens when they get in there” said Fuller a few months ago.

You're such an inspiration for the ways that I will never, ever choose to be.

“…it’s about a group of kids, a la Breakfast Club, from different cliques, who all get together and go into this one house, and what happens when they get in there.”

WOW! Now THAT’S a unique concept! These guys sure know their stuff!

Wait, so a group of teenagers go into a haunted house, and stuff happens. Wow, I think PD just blew my mind; I never would have thought of teenagers in a spooky house. Hey, I have an idea, maybe the teens should drink beer and have sex. If that happens, they totally ripped me off. You’re all my witnesses.

If Bay et. al. are smart, they’d make the house a sand castle.

And the original teens will probably include a goth kid, a jock, a shy geeky girl (who once she takes her glasses off becomes a hottie), a stoner, a dumb blond, …

So, do I get a prize if I’m right on at least half of these?

When we sue them for ripping off our brilliant and original idea, we’ll split the settlement.

You know… if any other company were making that movie I’d say it sounds like it could be fun.

I love how any story printed about this hack company of Michael “Boom-boom” Bay’s has to be prefaced with news their first film “will not be a remake, sequel, or reboot”, since that’s all these rip-off artists are known for.

Way to go Paramount! You managed to keep your studio karma in check; you’ve got an indy-sensation in one hand, and the embodiment of everything wrong with Hollywood today in the other. So much for the hope a big studio might actually start crating genuine entertainment again, instead of the mind-numbing garbage that nobody’s going to see!
