You know for months I have seen nothing but negative comments about this movie. I understand John Carpenters Halloween is a master piece in cinema history, however John Carpenter also gave Rob Zombie his blessings to recreate the Halloween story and in turn introduce it to a whole new generation of fans. You may not like everything that is done in RZ’s movies but he has his following and at least they are different than the everyday dread that is brought out in this country. In a way Im glad he changed things up i mean look at the Fog remake, damn near word for word remake what was the point, they have cell phones in the remake? None of us have seen the movie yet are all willing to criticize the unknown. Go see it, give it a chance, but most of you have it stuck in your head that “this movie is gonna suck cuz Rob Zombie made it” It’s quite simple, you dont like it, dont watch it!

I’ll agree that Zombie gets credit for putting his own spin on it rather than making a shot-for-shot remake; I didn’t care for his Halloween because the direction in which Zombie chose to take the character of Myers, in my personal opinion, did not work. I don’t think it’ll suck because Zombie made it but because I didn’t like the first movie, and none of the trailers are doing anything for me, so feel no obligation to give the movie a chance. I didn’t see “He’s Just Not That Into You” either; again, nothing I saw for that movie made me want to see it.
I’ll agree also that those who already hate H2 shouldn’t see it. My great frustration comes from knowing that most of the people who have been slamming H2 since it was announced are going to hypocritically plunk down their money to see it opening weekend. If you hated the first one, already know you’re gonna hate the second, and don’t want there to be a third, then for God’s sakes stay at home.
But if you are one of the people who enjoyed the first (and there seem to be a lot) and are excited about the sequel, then by all means defend it on the boards and support it with your money. Since movies are primarily about entertainment–which is a subjective quality–I do hope that when/if you go you honestly enjoy it; if you were entertained by the movie and had a good time, at the end of the day that’s all that really matters.

At Least Weinstein is targeting Rob Zombie’s key audience with running the ads during Nascar

I would have preferred to have watched the NASCAR…

Interesting comparison between Rob Zombie’s film-making career (to date), and NASCAR – both going round in circles over the same stuff, with a few changes in position/lead here and there!

So….RZ is keeping the whole “ghost mom” bit in the film? If he would take that out I would be so excited to see H2, but as of now I’m more nervous – as in “how did RZ fuck this movie up?”
Oh, one more thing, I don’t want an answer to why MM is evil…thats part of the allure to him, you don’t know why

    • Mephistopheles

Same here. I really don’t have a problem with 90% of what people are upset about–“Hobo Myers”, Uncle Coffins, etc. But the whole “Ghost mom” bit has me cringing.

And granted, if Sheri had appeared and acted like she did in the first film in Michael’s visions *maybe* it wouldn’t be so bad–but in this whole “living dead girl” get-up? WTF?

Ditto. Michael Myers is scary because you don’t understand his motivations, and even scarier because (in the original at least) the only person who might know his motives (Loomis) is more scared of him than you could ever be. RZ fucked this up because RZ’s Myers became a picked-on child with mommy issues instead of being pure evil and Loomis seems to feel more sorry for Michael than scared of him.

Me and my money are staying far the hell away from this atrocity.
