Fox to Cut Dollhouse Short by One Episode

Joss Whedon's DollhouseThose who have been watching “Dollhouse” on Fox claim it has finally hit its stride after a somewhat rocky start, and the show’s upward trending ratings seem to bear that out. So one has to wonder why, then, Fox has decided to cut its season short by declining to air Episode #13, “Epitaph One”.

According to The Hollywood Reporter the network and its parent studio aren’t talking, but this is what we know so far: The Dollhouse season finale airs May 8, titled “Omega,” and is the show’s 12th aired episode. But there’s a 13th episode called “Epitaph One,” directed by Whedon, which one assumes will show up on DVD.

THR’s sources also maintain the story in the “Omega” season finale is Whedon’s original vision for how the season would end, so fans watching the show to the very end will not feel as if the storyline was cut short. As I’m not a regular viewer of the show, I can’t really chime in one way or the other except to say that if I were, I’d certainly want to see it in its entirety, especially since Whedon directed the missing episode himself.

The story reiterates that “Dollhouse” hasn’t been canceled, but only time will tell in that regard.
