Diablo Cody to Produce Breathers

Breathers: A Zombies LamentThe bipedal land dwellers who are behind the entity known as Production Weekly have learned of a new project being produced by Diablo Cody, screenwriter of Juno and the upcoming Jennifer’s Body.

It’s called Breathers: A Zombie’s Lament, and will be adapted from the debut novel of the same name from S.G. Browne, which is shipping out to book stores on March 3rd. The story sounds a bit on the trite side, but if done well it could be a lot of fun…

Breathers: A Zombie’s Lament follows a guy named Andy who finds himself shunned by society when he dies and comes back as a zombie. All seems lost until he goes to a Undead Anonymous meeting and meets some kindred sprits, including one who shows him the joys of human flesh.

Geoff LaTulippe will be penning the script; we’ll bring you more info on the project as it develops so don’t move!

  • Chainsaw

And it doesn’t help matters that there was already a movie called Zombies Anonymous. And that the plots sound almost identical.

  • The Butcher

It sounds almost exactly like the French film Les Revenents aka They Came Back –
“The lives of the residents of a small French town are changed when thousands of the recently dead inexplicably come back to life and try to integrate themselves into society that has changed for them.”

So now this is about as an original idea as making vampires a metaphor for addiction…*sigh*
