Death Troopers Get Reinforcements

Published

on

It’s been some time since we talked about Death Troopers, the novel by Joe Schreiber where the worlds of horror and the pop culture phenomenon called Star Wars collide. The idea was instantly applauded, though, at the time, it was shocking that Lucas would allow such liberties to be taken with his creations.

Since then, we’ve seen Funko prepare to crank out a line of Monster Mash-Ups, combining iconic monsters with Star Wars characters … which tells us George isn’t as rigid as we once thought! Now, Death Troopers gets something it sorely needed … MERCHANDISING!!! Gentle Giant takes the lead, doing what they do best with a property they know very well. Here’s the skinny …

The legions of the undead are here. Nothing can prepare the galaxy for what lies waiting aboard a seemingly abandoned, derelict Star Destroyer. Amidst its vast creaking emptiness the unknown is lurking and the dead are slowly rising: soulless, unstoppable, and unspeakably hungry. This elite Stormtrooper is infected with more than just the dark side.

At 6.5 inches this remarkably horrifying 1/6th scale mini-bust is crafted in heavy, high quality poly-stone, featuring detachable armor plates revealing the morbid decay of the Imperial walking dead. Accurately sculpted with detailed and distressed armor, then hand painted to Gentle Giant’s always exacting specifications. This fine collectible is a limited edition. Each piece is individually numbered with matching certificate of authenticity and includes a complete Paperback edition of Joe Schreiber’s Star Wars horror novel: Death Troopers.

Pre-Orders are beginning to pop up now, but the piece doesn’t drop until October. Don’t let that keep you waiting! I have no idea how limited this piece will be, so if you NEED this in your collection, stake your claim immediately.

The above not enough for you? Need your Star Wars/horror fix a bit more visceral? Well, for the really there’s also the Deluxe Death Trooper Mini Bust featuring detachable armor plates revealing the morbid decay of the Imperial walking dead, including the fiendish face behind the mask! A blaster and 3 additional Interchangeable arms are included.

NECA Announces Ashy Slashy Puppet Replica

Published

on

One of our favorite horror TV shows is Starz’s “Ash vs. Evil Dead,” and one of our favorite moments from the first two seasons is when Ash brings out his “Ashy Slashy” puppet.

If you’re like us and have been wondering when you could get your hands on an Ashy Slashy puppet of your own, today we have good news.

NECA has just announced its prop replica!

You can check out pics of the packaging reveal NECA did over on Facebook below, and then let us know if you’re going to be buying your very own Ash Slashy puppet.

We’ll let you know when the item becomes available for pre-order!

Rundown via NECA:
Every day can be demented play day with your very own Ashy Slashy puppet from Season 2 of Ash vs. Evil Dead! We’ve replicated Ash’s potty-mouthed little doppelganger from the asylum episodes for your (hopefully G-rated) entertainment.

This is a working puppet – insert your hand, and you can move the mouth; plus the arms are poseable thanks to inner articulation.

Ashy Slashy is approximately 15” tall.

Freddy Krueger, Jason Voorhees, and the Xenomorph Getting Their Own 8-Bit Pop Vinyls

Published

on

Funko has released some delightful horror-themed products over the years, but this just takes the cake. They’ve announced a new line of 8-bit Pop Vinyl figures, which will feature pixelated versions of Freddy Krueger, Jason Voorhees, and the Xenomorph. I never thought I’d say it, but even Freddy Krueger looks cute.

Freddy and Jason will both come in standard editions, in addition to GameStop exclusives based on how they both appeared in their own NES video games. The Xenomorph will also have a Previews exclusive edition depicting it smeared with acid blood. Have a look at the images below to decide which versions you like best. Most of us would probably like to purchase all six!

These adorable (but still horrible) figures will be available in January, so make sure you don’t go bankrupt over Christmas.
