I became an F. Paul Wilson fanatic after reading "The Keep". I then moved on to his Repairman Jack series and really love them.
While some may say that it's not strictly horror, it does have heavy dollops of the supernatural and Jack is a great character.
The series starts with the incorrectly named "The Tomb" (there isn't a tomb to be found in it's pages).
I just started reading "Crisscross" (book 8 or 9) and so far, so good.
Anyone else read these? _________________ "Seekers after horror haunt strange, far places." - HP Lovecraft |

| I dig Repairman Jack! I'm a bit behind on it though -- I've only read "The Tomb", "Legacies", "Conspiracies", and "Hosts". I started off being a fan of F Paul Wilson's from early on with "The Keep" (still a great book, no one should shun it because of the so-so movie). But he lost for a bit when it seemed he was moving to the medical thriller genre. Very disappointing, since all books in that genre seem the same to me. But now I'm enjoying his resurrection of the Repairman Jack stories. |

*Huge* fan here. F. Paul Wilson is one of my favorite writers, and the Repairman Jack books are one of my favorite series. Love the mix of crime/action/horror. I recently finished reading GATEWAYS, and I'm looking forward to tearing into CRISSCROSS very soon (I have it, but haven't read it yet).
I've heard rumors of a movie adaptation. I wonder if it will ever happen . . . ?

Love Repairman Jack. One of my all time favorite literary characters.
I wouldn't be opposed to a movie adaptation so long as they were faithful to the character. Messing around with Jack, making him a bit more accessable to the filmgoers would, in my opinion, deter greatly from his overall appeal. |

Right on.
For some reason, I've always thought Viggo Mortensen would be a cool choice for the role. Someone who's not jaw-droppingly handsome, but has sort of an everyman look (as Mortensen did in Cronenberg's A HISTORY OF VIOLENCE). That's 'Jack, after all . . . .

Mortensen would be an awesome Jack. I would be wary about any movie though, because I could see them taking it in a completley wrong direction. _________________ You know there ain't no Devil, that's just God when he's drunk. |

| I love Repairman Jack. I got turned onto the stories when I saw a blurb where Steven King gushed about the character. Thought it was worth a try, now I'm hooked! |
