Beauty and the Beast

Well, this is interesting. One man is working on two TV shows with the same name for two different networks. Gary Fleder, executive producer of ABC’s "Beauty and the Beast" pilot, has come on board to direct the other "Beauty and the Beast" pilot at The CW.

Not to be confused with the recently announced project for The CW, ABC is looking to live happily ever after in fairy tale mode with yet another iteration of "Beauty and the Beast".

The CW has announced three more pilot orders, one of which should be of interest to genre fans - a reboot of the 1980s series "Beauty and the Beast" that has the original's creator involved as well.

This just in! Guillermo del Toro has discovered the miracle of cloning, thus freely enabling him to work on 1,000 different projects at a time. In a perfect world, kids! In a perfect world. Get ready for more news from one of the most prolific filmmakers on the planet.

Rest your wallets easy, folks, as other than a couple of monster movies which previously aired on Syfy, this week's genre offerings are really slim pickings.

If you've been thinking that the old staple movie-of-the-week is dying a slow death nowadays, think again because Syfy is keeping the tradition alive via its Saturday night made-for-TV movies. And things are about to get even more interesting as the network preps five titles that give a contemporary twist on classic fairy tales.

Beauty & the Beast is a timeless tale. Now it's time to see if it can survive the Syfy treatment. If nothing else, at least with Estella Warren in the lead, there will definitely be some beauty on display.
