I have always felt that November is the perfect time for murder mysteries. There is something about the crisp autumn air that practically begs for schemes, dreams, and plots bursting at the seams. It turns out that I am not alone because many people are hitting play on this new Agatha Christie film adaptation. So many people, in fact, that they’ve made A Haunting in Venice the #1 thriller on Hulu

This Kenneth Branagh-helmed project hit theaters on September 15th. Then it booked it over to Hulu just in time for us to add it to our Halloween watch lists. While many of us watched in October, it seems some of you saved it for murder weather. If you are one of the few who have not seen it, check out the trailer and read the official synopsis below.

A Haunting in Venice is set in eerie, post-World War II Venice on All Hallows’ Eve and is a terrifying mystery featuring the return of the celebrated sleuth, Hercule Poirot. Now retired and living in self-imposed exile in the world’s most glamorous city, Poirot reluctantly attends a séance at a decaying, haunted palazzo. When one of the guests is murdered, the detective is thrust into a sinister world of shadows and secrets.”

A Haunting in Venice is directed by Kenneth Branagh. It was adapted for the screen by Michael Green. The film is based on the novel Hallowe’en Party by Agatha Christie. The movie stars Kyle Allen, Kenneth Branagh, Camille Cottin, Jamie Dornan, Tina Fey, Kelly Reilly, Riccardo Scamarcio, and Michelle Yeoh.

I love Michelle Yeoh, so I definitely gave it a whirl. I also discovered the movie is part of a series of films Kenneth Branagh has been working on over the last few years. If you want to watch them in order, Hulu has you covered. Both Murder on the Orient Express and Death on the Nile are available on the streamer as well.
