Another new flick with the title Backcountry is currently filming, and we have all the details for you here, fresh and piping hot… like a Tennessee biscuit from Aretha Frankenstein’s (look it up; it will change your life)!

From the Press Release:
Principal photography on BACKCOUNTRY has started in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada, and marks the feature directorial debut of BAFTA Award winner Rob Connolly (Our Neck of the Woods). BACKCOUNTRY stars Joel Kinnaman (pictured below; Run All Night, “The Killing,” Suicide Squad), Tom Holland (Heart of the Sea, The Impossible, Billy Elliot the Musical), and Percy Hynes-White (“Murdoch Mysteries,” Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb). The suspense thriller is written and produced by Kyle Mann (Wrecked, Push, Capote) and co-produced by Michael Risley with executive producers Jeff Sackman and Jonathan Bronfman.

“I think the characterization of the single father is given a new dimension in this film,” says Mann. “We’re shooting in the wilderness; we’re in snow country, which already brings a level of authenticity to the story. And I’m confident that with Rob Connolly, who is such an exciting new talent, directing our amazing cast, the nuances of these complex relationships will come to light.”

Elliot Baker (Kinnaman) seizes the chance to develop a better relationship with his sons when his ex-wife, Karen (Rachelle Lefevre; The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, “Under the Dome,” A Gifted Man), and her new husband take a vacation and leave the boys with him. What starts as a bonding opportunity turns into a nightmarish adventure when they get stranded in a deserted cabin near the lake as night falls and a snowstorm rages. Bradley (Holland), 15, and Caleb (Hynes-White), 12, quickly learn more about their father and what they truly mean to him in this gripping tale of family and survival.

BACKCOUNTRY is produced by Drive Productions in association with JoBro Productions and Tajj Media, which holds worldwide distribution rights. Production is slated to wrap on March 28, 2015.
