Marvel to Adapt The Stand?
Last year’s New York Comic Con featured a great public appearance by Stephen King, a hero of mine since my younger days. I wrote all about the appearance after the show (“>read it here), and one of the coolest bits of news that came from it was that Marvel was discussing a comic adaptation of King’s seminal end-of-the world epic, The Stand.
Since then nothing’s been said, but we got word from reader Ultimo Franco that Marvel is finally moving forward according to Comic Book Resources. Though Marvel offered a “no comment” when asked, King revealed in an interview on NPR that they would be doing The Stand as a graphic novel.
Not a bad idea, but my God how long will this damn thing be? King’s “uncut” edition of The Stand clocks in at over 1000 pages, I can’t imagine how much cutting will have to be done to fit it into a graphic novel format.
Hopefully we’ll hear more details about it soon; for now you should click here to get Marvel’s graphic novel of The Dark Tower: The Gunslinger Born, which is amazing.
