Hill Under Locke & Key

Today we learned of one more horror comic you’re going to want to keep your peepers open for: Locke & Key, coming in March from IDW Publishing. The story was written by 20th Century Ghosts (review) and Heart-Shaped Box (review) writer Joe Hill, son of Stephen King and one of my favorite new writers working today.

Featuring artwork by Gabriel Rodriguez, Locke & Key tells of a fantastic New England mansion called, of course, Keyhouse. Anyone who walks through its various doors is changed — boys to girls, young men to geriatric seniors — but it’s also home to hate-filled creatures who won’t rest until the most terrible of all doors is opened.

At this point the story could be about lawn care techniques and I’d snap it up; Hill’s that good of a writer. I guess it’s fortuitous that he’s got a sick imagination as well. Check out IDW’s Locke & Key page to see more art from the book, and be sure to check comic shelves for Issue #1 in March!
