This Ultimate Forgotten 2003 Thriller is Now Streaming Free — Is it Underrated?

I have a soft spot for all the random horror/thriller rentals I watched growing up. Absent streaming access—because it didn’t exist—I was limited to either whatever was showing on cable or whatever my local video rental store had available. Which is to say, I didn’t have infinite options, but there was a beauty in that, largely because it helped guide me to movies I otherwise would have missed. I stan Darkness Falls—no surprise—because it was all I had.

Seriously. If you need something to watch, just check out the domestic box office between 2001 and 2005. Derailed? A classic. The Butterfly Effect? Enduring piece of cinematic history. Insomnia? Come on, it rarely gets better than that. I love them all, but I especially love the deep cuts. Deep cuts with both Sharon Stone and Stephen Dorff? Unmatched. So, do yourself a favor and travel all the way back to 2003 with Cold Creek Manor, a stone-cold thriller now streaming free on Tubi. Learn more about Cold Creek Manor below:
Per Tubi: While renovating a dilapidated country estate, a New York couple is unable to escape the home’s previous owner and its dark and lurid legacy.
Be honest. How long’s it been since you thought about Cold Creek Manor? For me, it’s been since 2003, but phew, it all came rushing back to me. That’s my vibe. My jam. Mid-budget domestic thrillers from the early 2000s? I love them all, and Cold Creek Manor scratched a very specific itch of mine. I mean, get a look at this cast. Cold Creek Manor has Dennis Quaid, Sharon Stone, Stephen Dorff, Juliette Lewis, Kristen Stewart, and Christopher Plummer. That’s a cast. They don’t make them like they used to. Sorry, didn’t mean to go all old man yelling at early aughts thrillers on you all.

Cold Creek Manor has it all. Thrills, social roots, a little sex—everything you’d want out of a movie titled Cold Creek Manor. Reviews were rotten, of course, but that’s to be expected. Honestly, these days, a 12% Rotten Tomatoes score is more enticing than anything pushing 90%. Gimme all the critically maligned thrills. And I’m not alone. Some social media users are keeping Cold Creek Manor alive, and you can check out some choice social media reactions below:
