Crafting The Scares In ‘Tarot’ [Exclusive Video]

Tarot

Tarot card readings, spells, and crystals are by no means new concepts, but they’ve certainly burst more into the mainstream with the advent of YouTube and, more recently, TikTok. With many young minds granted access to the wild wonders of the internet, they may have stumbled into a world full of magical possibilities. But what happens if you abuse such possibilities? Co-writers and directors Spenser Cohen and Anna Halberg imagine one such scenario in their new gateway horror film Tarot.

In Tarot:

When a group of friends recklessly violates the sacred rule of Tarot readings—never use someone else’s deck—they unknowingly unleash an unspeakable evil trapped within the cursed cards. One by one, they come face-to-face with fate and end up in a race against death to escape the future foretold in their readings.

The new supernatural horror film features monsters designed by the one and only Trevor Henderson, who’s created hellish entities such as Sirenhead. He created eight unique monsters for the film, each scarier than the last.

Speaking of scares, we have an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at how Cohen and Halberg collaborated with their filmmaking team to create the film’s numerous scares.

In his review of the film, Dread Central’s Josh Korngut wrote, “Tarot is a fun return to 2000s-era spookshows like Stay Alive and Thirteen Ghosts; a wholly entertaining and unpretentious good time.”

Harriet Slater, Adain Bradley, Avantika, and Jacob Batalon star in the film.

Tarot is available now on digital.
