New Chilling ‘Longlegs’ Trailer Wants You To Say Your Prayers

Longlegs

The hype for Osgood Perkins’ Longlegs is only growing with each new piece of marketing put out by genre darling Neon, who are already having a banger year with the release of Immaculate and the looming release of Cuckoo. But nothing compares to what the company has created for Longlegs, which is squarely at the top of our most highly anticipated film of 2024. With the latest teaser, we get a cryptic poem, a bloody nun, and specters of Satan lurking in the shadows.

In Longlegs:

FBI Agent Lee Harker is assigned to an unsolved serial killer case that takes an unexpected turn, revealing evidence of the occult. Harker discovers a personal connection to the killer and must stop him before he strikes again.

Watch the latest teaser, titled Sweet: Part Two, below:

The cryptic poem shared in the latest teaser reads:

So close the crimson and clover
All gone now to the edge
Where the black begins
The long forked tongue hisses

Then, we see a single line of text that reads “The Daughter of the Seventh She”. Now, this line is interesting because, in folklore and some occult circles, the seventh child of a seventh child is thought to have otherworldly powers, namely seeing into the future and healing the sick. Perhaps Monroe is such a figure? Or she’s trying to protect seventh daughters from a deranged killer. We won’t know for sure until the film hits theaters this summer, but it appears like Perkins is digging deep into the weird and obscure with Longlegs.

Preceding the teaser is Sweet: Part One, which comes in the form of a new poster with what’s most likely Monroe’s back to the camera with someone (perhaps Nicolas Cage?) sitting in front of her.

As if the mystery couldn’t get any deeper, Bloody Disgusting also posted a tweet that simply said #longlegs with a screenshot of a ten-step process most likely about becoming part of the FBI.

Check it out below:

Maika Monroe and Nicolas Cage star in the film with Alicia Witt and Blair Underwood

Neon brings Longlegs exclusively to theaters on July 12, 2024.
