Michelle Yeoh Will Fight Another Day In ‘The Mother’
Michelle Yeoh hive rise! Our Oscar-winning goddess will return to throwing hands on the big screen again sooner than we dreamed. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Yeoh has signed on to film an action thriller called The Mother this summer.
Yeoh will play Ann, a businesswoman trying to give her family a good life in America. According to the synopsis: “When her two teenage sons stumble into trouble with a Boston dirty cop and a crime ring, Ann has no choice but to rekindle her past and stop at nothing until they are safe.”
The Mother will be directed by Melanie Laurent (The Mad Women’s Ball and Wingwomen). The screenplay is written by P.G. Cuschieri (Cut Throat City).

While Michelle Yeoh has been kicking ass on film since the 1980s, much of her American fanbase did not catch on until Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon in 2000. Since then, we have had the honor of seeing her throw hands and tell jokes in a pretty steady list of credits. However, it was A24’s Everything Everywhere All at Once which earned her the Academy Award for Best Actress in 2023.
Because there is no rest for the icon, she followed that film up with movies like A Haunting in Venice and The School for Good and Evil. She also appeared in the shows American Born Chinese and The Brothers Sun. You can even hear her voice in The Tiger’s Apprentice on Paramount+ or get in line to see her in Wicked: Part One later this year. So, it’s safe to say Mother was mothering before she signed on for The Mother.
I will watch anything Michelle Yeoh signs on for. However, I am always a bit more excited when I know that Yeoh will beat up some bad guys. As an aspiring older woman, I find it motivational. Let me know if you are as pumped to see The Mother as I am at @misssharai.
