Horror Docuseries ‘TerrorBytes’ Launches Pre-Sale Campaign

Horror gaming in the 1980s, 1990s, and early 2000s was wild. On the one hand, we were getting horrible games based on the Texas Chain Saw Massacre for the Atari 2600, and on the other, we were getting incredibly unique and horrifying games like Sweet Home. Thankfully, TerrorBytes is here to talk all things horror gaming. Billed as the ultimate exploration and celebration of horror in video games, TerrorBytes: The Evolution of Horror Gaming is a five-episode docuseries that aims to span the entire genre. Each episode will focus on a specific topic within the horror gaming landscape.

Episode 1 – Enter The Survival Horror

Looks at survival horror games that made the genre, their evolution, and how they endure today.

Episode 2 – Lethal Licences

Dives deep into the licensed horror games like Texas Chain Saw Massacre and Nightmare on Elm Street.

Episode 3 – Narrative Nightmares:

Based on more cinematic horror experiences like Night Trap and Phantasmagoria.

Episode 4 – The Indie Revolution

Examines the booming indie horror scene, which includes titles like Faith and Amnesia.

Episode 5 – Cursed and Controversial

Cursed is a word that is synonymous with horror, and it’s no different in horror gaming. TerrorBytes will look at titles like Lille Manhunt and Doom and the controversy surrounding them.

A lot of research and care is going into TerrorBytes. They have released their cast list, which is very impressive, with names like Silent Hill composer Akira Yamaoka, Clock Tower director Hifumi Kōno, and Resident Evil‘s Chris Redfield voice actor Joe White, among many more. I am beyond excited about this documentary as it will be the first time we are getting a deep dive into some of the games they are highlighting. They also clearly plan on adding more guests as time passes, which means TerrorBytes could grow into something even more special than it already is!

Multiple pre-sale levels are available, ranging from digital access and a physical Blu-ray with their excellent poster design on shirts and keychains to executive producer credits in the documentary. The pre-sale launches today and ends on March 3, 2024.
